Airport 2025

Business Transformation Case

Zukunftsorientierte Vermarktungsstrategie
Question

“What will the future of retail, duty-free shopping, and food and beverage offerings at the airport look like? What needs and motivations will future target groups have? And what will a successful marketing strategy look like in 2025?”

Solution

Workbench Lab

We brought together influential thought leaders from the fields of e-commerce, retail, the startup scene, fashion, community building, and publishing—all from our collective—with the DUS client team and their experts (architects, store designers, event managers, etc.) to develop a new 2025+ commercialization strategy. To ensure success, it was crucial to take into account the evolving nature of the younger, travel-oriented target audience (Generations Y and Z) in order to define the two new core concepts. These included several concrete activation ideas and initial designs for the development of various prototypes.

Since 2019, ... and dos Santos has been supporting Düsseldorf Airport—and our Commercial Team in particular—on our journey toward transformation and ensuring the future viability of our business. Together, we have made significant progress in developing forward-looking solutions. Through ... and dos Santos’ Innovation Lab, which brings together expert knowledge from various fields such as infrastructure, e-commerce, data, retail, and IoT, we are generating tailored ideas and solutions. These concepts, developed by the expert team, are cornerstones of the 2028 Commercialization Strategy and will continue to support us in strengthening existing business relationships and identifying new business opportunities that will further solidify the airport’s position as a leading business hub.
